James Butcher

James Butcher has a diverse work experience spanning various companies. James started their career at PrismTech, where they worked as a Software Engineer, gaining experience in software development and working on CORBA technologies. James then became a Senior Software Engineer, further developing their skills in developing real-time, scalable, and reliable software. Later, as a Technical Manager and Solutions Architect, they worked closely with customers in various industries to understand their specific requirements and provide technical expertise using Vortex and DDS technologies.

After their time at PrismTech, James joined ADLINK Technology as a Technical Manager and Solutions Architect, focusing on the EMEA region and specializing in designing distributed architectures for maximizing customer operational efficiencies.

James then moved to IOTech Systems as a Senior Solutions Architect, where they played a crucial role in acquiring and onboarding new customers and partners, designing and implementing customer and trade-show demonstrators. James later became a Product Manager, responsible for the product management and market positioning of IOTech's Edge Xpert Open IoT Edge Computing Platform.

Currently, James is involved with EdgeX Foundry, holding various leadership positions. James serves as the Technical Steering Committee Chair and has previously chaired the Core Working Group and QA & Test Working Group.

Throughout their career, James has demonstrated expertise in technical roles and a deep understanding of open-source platforms, distributed architectures, and customer requirements in various industries.

James Butcher attended Coquet High School from 1995 to 2000. After graduating from high school, they pursued a degree in Computer Science at the University of Warwick from 2000 to 2004. James obtained a M Eng class 1 degree from the University of Warwick.
