Greg Smith

Greg’s passion for supporting innovation that can help solve many of the world’s challenges has been a driving factor in his career over the past two decades. As CEO, he is deeply committed to delivering the Group’s strategy by backing and growing science-based businesses that support a healthier, tech-enriched, regenerative future.

Greg was appointed Chief Executive Officer in October 2021, having previously been IP Group's Chief Financial Officer. He has more than 20 years’ experience in financial services and has significant investment management experience, having served on various of the Group’s investment committees as well as the Group’s FCA-authorised subsidiaries.

Prior to IP Group, Greg worked at Tarchon Capital Management, a multi-billion dollar fund of hedge funds business where he built and managed the operations and accounting team and the operational due diligence process for investee hedge funds. Greg qualified as an accountant in KPMG’s London financial services practice working with asset management, insurance and banking clients. Greg is a Fellow of the ICAEW and holds a degree in Mathematics from the University of Warwick.
