David Hawkey is a Senior Research Fellow at IPPR since August 2022, with prior experience in various roles related to sustainable energy and research. David contributed to the Scottish Government in heat planning and delivery from September 2019 to August 2022 and served as a Senior Network Analyst at Ofgem from October 2018 to September 2019. David's earlier research work includes a significant project on sustainable heating infrastructure at The University of Edinburgh, where David was a Research Fellow from 2010 to October 2018. David's academic background includes a PhD in Linguistics focusing on the Evolution of Language from The University of Edinburgh, alongside multiple degrees in Environmental Sustainability, Cognitive Science, and Physics from respected institutions.
