Sam Alvis is an experienced professional in energy security and environmental policy, currently serving as the Head of Energy Security & Environment and Associate Fellow at IPPR since August 2022. Alvis also holds positions as a member of the Governing Council and on the Panel of Young Advisers at Chatham House, contributing to strategies that engage the next generation. Previous roles include Director of Energy & Environment at Public First, Head of Economy at Green Alliance, and Political Advisor to the Labour Party, where Alvis focused on climate policy and the energy price crisis. Other notable experience includes senior advisory roles at the Tony Blair Institute for Global Change, Wellcome Trust, and as a parliamentary researcher for Seema Malhotra MP. Alvis holds a Master of Science in Climate Change from UCL and a first-class Bachelor of Science in Geography from the University of Edinburgh.
