Tsjerk Hoekstra is an experienced engineering leader with a robust background in photonics, acoustics, MEMS, and advanced technologies. Currently serving as Vice President of Engineering at iPronics Programmable Photonics, Tsjerk is focused on team expansion in Valencia. Previous roles include Principal Consultant and Director at State Of Matter Ltd., and Vice President of Engineering/Strategic Initiatives at SMART Photonics, where efforts were directed towards high-volume manufacturing of photonic circuits. Tsjerk has also held senior positions at EFFECT Photonics, Cirrus Logic, Scottish Enterprise, Alcatel-Lucent, JDS Uniphase, and MESA+, culminating in over three decades of expertise in product development and strategic technology management. Tsjerk earned a PhD in Physics from the University of Twente.
