Nick Walker

Nick Walker has extensive work experience in various roles and industries. Nick is currently serving as the Chief Science Officer at Iprova, where they work with the Inventions team and provides longer-term support to the software group by developing AI solutions for inventions. Iprova is a pioneering company that uses data-driven, AI-enabled approaches to transform the creation of physical science inventions.

Prior to their current role, Nick founded and served as a director at iXscient Ltd starting from 2003. In this role, they managed projects and provided R&D services in areas such as personal health, next-generation diagnostics, optics, microfluidics, and data analysis algorithms. iXscient supports international consortia through proposal writing, R&D project management, and offers technical consultancy for medical devices and renewable energy systems.

From 2004 to 2012, Nick held the position of CEO at Microsharp UK. Before that, they worked at Sagentia as the Head of Life Sciences Consultancy for a brief period in 2003. Nick also served as the Group Manager at Central Research Laboratories from 1993 to 2003.

In the early stages of their career, Nick worked as a Software Developer at Fulcrum Technologies from 1997 to 1999, focusing on integrating a neural network-based text data mining solution into a commercial product. The product is still being sold by OpenText. Nick also worked as a Senior Systems Consultant at MTA from 1990 to 1993 and as a Clinical Research Fellow at the Imperial Cancer Research Fund Laboratories from 1986 to 1990.

Nick Walker earned their MA in Medical Sciences from Jesus College, Cambridge from 1976 to 1979. Nick then attended Middlesex Hospital Medical School from 1979 to 1982, where they obtained an MB BChir in Medicine. Nick furthered their education at UCL from 1985 to 1986 to earn an MSc in Computer Science. Lastly, from 1986 to 1990, they pursued a PhD in Computer Science at Queen Mary University of London.
