Steve James has an extensive work history in various roles within the power and engineering industry. Steve started their career as an Electrical Distribution Engineer at Eastern Electricity Board/PLC, where they gained experience in underground and overhead construction, fault location, and transformer maintenance. Steve then moved on to Eastern Natural Gas as a Gas Operations Manager, responsible for gas delivery and demand forecasting. Steve later worked at Baineport Engineering Services as a Commercial Director, managing clients and pricing new work. Steve then joined Freedom Group of Companies, where they held several management positions, including Managing Director of Power Projects and Business Development Director. Steve was also the Managing Director at Stormport Professional Services Limited. Steve currently holds the position of Transition Support Director at Ipsum. Overall, Steve James has a diverse background in the power and engineering industry, with experience in project management, business development, and operations.

Steve James attended Middlesex College from 1976 to 1978, where they studied Electrical and Electronics Engineering. Prior to that, from 1974 to 1976, they studied the same field at Turnford College. Steve James completed their secondary education at Latymer School, Edmonton, from 1969 to 1974.
