Mark Harland

Mark Harland is the Head of Sustainability at IQ-EQ. Mark has over 20 years of experience in corporate governance, responsible investment, and sustainability.

Most recently, they were with GAM Investments, where they served as the Head of Governance and Responsible Investment. In this role, they oversaw Corporate Governance and ESG, including engagement, and stewardship and PRI reporting. Mark was charged with the integration of ESG factors, ESG process updates, team leadership, and ESG data governance.

During their time at GAM Investments, Harland was a key member of several committees, including the Sustainability Steering Committee, the Chair of the Corporate Sustainability Working Group, and the Interim Chair of the Responsible Investment Advisory Board. Mark also led several important projects, including the modern slavery statement, policy creations, carbon offset, TCFD integration, and GAM's move to integrated reporting.

Harland has a proven track record in training, process audits, compliance, policy reviews, and policy creation. Mark is skilled in creating new purpose and vision statements, as well as defining company philosophies around ESG. Mark has also launched new revenue streams in the form of corporate credit funds, private label fund stewardship, and new product developments.

Harland holds a degree in Economics from the University of London.

Mark Harland has a Master of Sustainability Leadership from the University of Cambridge, a Bachelor of Law (LLB) from BPP Law School, and a Bachelor of Commerce (B.Com.) from the University of Cape Town. Mark has also completed matric at St Stithians College, and has certification from the CFA Institute in the CFA ESG Certificate, Impact Leaders in the Impact Leaders Programme, Climate Reality Leadership Corps in the Climate Reality Leader, and International Corporate Governance Network in Governance, Stewardship, and Sustainability.
