Colm Coffey

Solutions Engineer

Colm Coffey has a diverse range of work experience spanning various sectors. Colm started their career as a Summer Intern at Dublin City University in 2014. In 2014, they also worked as an Intern in Environmental Sanitation Engineering for Engineers Without Borders - International, where they were involved in constructing sanitary facilities and implementing hygiene practices.

Colm then worked as a Project Engineer in Facilities at AbbVie from April 2016 to January 2017. After that, they joined Prior PLM Medical as a Project Engineer in Product Development, where they specialized in implementing design for manufacturing (DFM) innovations.

In 2019, Colm transitioned to the construction industry and worked as a Project Engineer at L&M Construction, focusing on operations management and project team management. Due to the pandemic, they returned to Ireland and decided to pursue a Masters in Medical Device Design.

During their Masters, Colm gained experience as a Software QA Intern at ClinCapture, a startup focused on paperless clinical trials through electronic data capture. Colm then took on a temporary role as a Course Instructor at the Centre for Talented Youth, teaching Electronic Engineering to transition year students.

In 2021, Colm co-founded Smooth Op, a software application aimed at enhancing efficiency in operating theaters using lean manufacturing principles. Colm also joined Medtronic as a Project Engineer in R&D Sustaining.

Currently, Colm is a Solutions Engineer at Irdeto, where they leverage their extensive experience in medical device engineering and project management to drive innovation and growth in the healthcare sector. Colm focuses on building relationships with clients in the medical device industry, adapting Irdeto's technology for medical device companies, and presenting demonstrations to showcase the value of their solutions.

Colm Coffey has a diverse education history in the field of engineering and biomedical sciences. Colm began their educational journey at St. Fintans High School, Sutton, where they obtained their High School Diploma (Irish Leaving Certificate) in 2011. Following that, they attended Dublin City University from 2011 to 2015, graduating with a Bachelor of Engineering (BE) in Biomedical/Medical Engineering. During their time at the same institution, they also earned a B.Eng. in Biomedical Engineering.

In 2017, Colm pursued further education and enrolled in Dublin City University once again, this time pursuing a Master's degree in Operations Management. Colm completed this program in 2018. Colm recently concluded their most recent educational journey at Trinity College Dublin. In 2021, Colm graduated from Trinity College Dublin with a Master of Science (MS) degree in Bioengineering and Biomedical Engineering.

With a solid background in both engineering and biomedical sciences, Colm Coffey is well-equipped to make significant contributions to these fields.
