Irving Symphony Orchestra
Derek Wright is a highly experienced musician specializing in French Horn performance, currently serving as the 3rd Horn for Dallas Winds since October 2010 and as a Section Horn with the West Texas Symphony since August 2015. Wright has held various substitute positions with multiple orchestras, including Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra, Irving Symphony Orchestra, and Plano Symphony Orchestra. As a co-owner and manager of Houghton Horns LLC since January 2013, Wright is also involved in marketing, sales, web development, and graphic design. Wright's earlier experience includes a role as a 4th Horn with Amarillo Symphony from August 2016 to April 2023 and as a brass instrument repair technician at Houghton Custom Horns. Educational credentials include a Doctor of Musical Arts from Arizona State University, a Master of Music from the University of Minnesota, and a Bachelor of Music from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.
