ISEG Foundation was launched in 2023 as a non-profit institute to drive large-scale impact in employment creation and net zero transitions across India. 

ISEG Foundation is an “action-tank” in addition to a “think tank” and measures its impact through “making things happen”. ISEG’s goal is to facilitate the creation of 10 million jobs and support 10 states in their net zero transition journey. 

ISEG is currently working with NITI Aayog on developing city-regions as “Economic Growth Hubs” through Economic Masterplanning and facilitating the energy transition journey of Indian states through the Accelerating Sustainable State Energy Transition (ASSET) Platform.

ISEG has collaborated with NITI Aayog and respective state governments to develop Economic Master Plans for the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR) and the Visakhapatnam Economic Region (VER). These plans were released in the public domain in September 2024 and November 2025 and are currently under implementation.

ISEG is the strategic partner for the ASSET Platform, anchored by NITI Aayog in partnership with the Ministry of Power and the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE), to support the energy transition of Indian states. ISEG developed the Energy Transition Plan for the state of Maharashtra (in collaboration with the state government) and is currently working with the governments of Andhra Pradesh and Odisha.

ISEG is governed by an eminent Council of Advisors and advised by a distinguished Mentor Council comprising leading figures from industry, government and academia.  It is supported by organisations such as McKinsey & Company, Gates Foundation, Godrej Group/Foundation, RPG Group, The Convergence Foundation, A.T.E Chandra Foundation and Harish & Bina Shah Foundation.
