Isomo Program & Bridge to College is a community-led education initiative expanding access to learning and higher education for underserved students in Rwanda.

Founded in 2022, Isomo Program began as an English and literacy program for out-of-school children in a rural village, initially serving 23 learners under a mango tree. Through community mobilization and volunteer-led instruction, the program scaled to serve 496 students by 2025. It secured permanent classrooms from the district government, partnered with local high school graduates as tutors, and boosted its visibility.

In 2024, the initiative expanded with the launch of Bridge to College, Isomo Program’s second chapter, created to ensure that no student’s potential is lost due to poverty or lack of guidance. Recognizing that only a small fraction of Rwanda’s high school graduates progress to university each year, Bridge to College provides intensive mentorship, essay coaching, and college admissions advising to high-achieving, low-income students.

Through Bridge to College, hundreds of students have gained university admission and awarded scholarships to study in Rwanda and Abroad. The program is legally registered, operates through school partnerships, and leverages structured mentoring to improve access to higher education pathways.

Together, Isomo Program & Bridge to College work across the education pipeline, from foundational learning to university access, driven by community leadership, equity, and a belief that education is the most powerful engine for opportunity and social mobility.
