RADON - the invisible risk

Odorless and tasteless, radon is a radioactive noble gas that poses a high risk potential, especially in radon precautionary areas. Released from soils, it can accumulate in buildings and reach health-threatening concentrations. After smoking, radon is the most frequent cause of lung cancer.

For Germany, studies assume 2,000 to 6,000 annual deaths due to the consequences of radon exposure*. By comparison, 3,059 people died in traffic accidents in 2019**. This makes it clear: the risk from radon is very real.
