Michael McVey

Michael McVey, Ed.D., is an educator with over 40 years of experience teaching in K-12 schools and preparing tomorrow’s teachers.

He began his career in 1980, teaching high school special education and English literature in Canada. After a year teaching in Japan with the Japan Exchange and Teaching (JET) Program, he returned to teaching special ed in Tucson, Arizona, where he was recognized for creating the first school-based website and one of the first district sites in the nation.

After publishing the book, Meeting the Internet Challenge, Michael was invited to teach at the University of Arizona. He completed his doctorate in educational leadership through Northern Arizona University and became a tenured professor at Eastern Michigan University.

Currently, Michael is a professor in the Teacher Education Department at Eastern Michigan University. In 2013, Michael stepped in as interim director of the university’s graduate school. He then served as interim senior international officer where he helped develop a strategic plan for the university’s internationalization efforts. In 2016, he was elected to the Saline Area Schools Board of Education.
