Nadya Okamoto is the CEO and Co-Founder at August. Nadya is also the author of Period Power: A Manifesto for the Menstrual Movement. Nadya is a world-renowned speaker and has been featured in TEDx, Forbes, Glamour, and more.
Nadya first started their journey as an entrepreneur when they were just 16 years old. Nadya co-founded Camions of Care, a nonprofit that has distributed over 500,000 period products to homeless shelters across the United States. Nadya has always been passionate about ending period poverty and period stigma.
In September 2017, Nadya enrolled in the Venture Incubation Program (VIP) at Harvard Innovation Labs. During their time at Harvard, Nadya developed August, a period underwear company that provides a sustainable, eco-friendly alternative to pads and tampons. August's products are made with organic cotton and bamboo, and they are absorbent enough to hold up to three tampons' worth of blood.
Nadya graduated from Harvard College in May 2018 with a degree in Sociology. Nadya was also a recipient of the President's Volunteer Service Award and the Do Something Star Power Award. Nadya currently resides in New York City.
Nadya Okamoto's educational career began when they attended Catlin Gabel High School. Nadya then went on to study sociology at Harvard University.
