Carrie Lozano is an award-winning documentary filmmaker, journalist and media executive who currently serves as President & CEO of ITVS, public media’s leading incubator and co-producer of independent film, and presenter of the series Independent Lens. Prior to ITVS, Lozano directed the Sundance Institute’s Documentary Film and Artist Programs, which served hundreds of filmmakers each year with funding, labs, fellowships and intensive artist support. Lozano launched and directed the International Documentary Association’s Enterprise Documentary Fund, where they supported filmmakers with funds and professional development on projects at the intersection of documentary and journalism. They serve on ProPublica’s board of directors and on advisory boards of UC Berkeley’s Graduate School of Journalism and PBS Frontline, and are a member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. Lozano earned an MJ in Documentary Film from UC Berkeley (2003–2005) and completed the Stanford Executive Program at Stanford University (2023–2024).
