James Sommers

Sr. Vice President of Content at ITVS

James Sommers has a diverse work experience spanning several organizations. James started their career as the Artistic Director at the Media Arts Center, Little City Foundation in 1992 and held the position until 1998. Following this, they co-founded and directed CoCo Arts from 1998 to 2000. In 2001, they became the National Outreach and Education Director at ITVS and remained in this role until 2004 when they were promoted to Vice President of Broadcast and Communications. James then served as the Sr. Vice President of Content Management from 2008 to 2010, and finally as the Sr. Vice President of Content from 2010 onwards. In these positions at ITVS, James provided leadership, strategic direction, and oversaw various aspects of the organization's programming, production, communications, and distribution.

James Sommers completed their Bachelor of Science degree in Fine Arts-Education at the University of Wisconsin-Madison from 1984 to 1989. James then pursued further education and obtained a Master of Fine Arts (MFA) degree in Video and Film from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago from 1992 to 1994.
