Ben Fitzpatrick

Ben Fitzpatrick is an accomplished marine ecologist with extensive experience in coastal and marine ecosystem management. Currently serving as the Leader of the Coastal and Marine Ecosystems Specialist Group for the IUCN since November 2021 and as a Director/Ecologist for Oceanwise Australia Pty Ltd since 1998, Ben Fitzpatrick has made significant contributions to marine environmental sciences. Previous roles include an Adjunct Research Fellow at The University of Western Australia, participation in the Ocean Impact Ideation Program 2022, and serving as the Wheatstone Marine Environment Lead at Bechtel Corporation. With a Ph.D. in Marine Sciences and experience in various marine research and conservation initiatives, Ben Fitzpatrick has built a robust career in marine ecology, contributing to diverse programs focused on coral health, marine conservation, and environmental management across multiple organizations.
