Brian Thomson

Brian Thomson is the Deputy Director of Global Communications at IUCN, a position held since January 2008. In this role, Brian leads the development of communications strategies across various programmes and regions, manages a team of communications experts, and oversees media relations and campaign strategies on an international level. Responsibilities include creating content for multiple platforms, developing communications plans for major events, and initiating a communications training academy for the IUCN Network. Brian also manages the communications budget, builds partnerships with businesses and NGOs, and serves as the official spokesperson for IUCN. Prior to this, Brian worked in Media Relations at the World Wide Fund for Nature from 2004 to 2008.
