Dan Laffoley

Marine Vice Chair

Dan Laffoley is a leading global expert on ocean conservation, currently serving as an Ocean Conservationist, Strategist, Communicator, and Marine Biologist at IUCN/Mission Blue since 2021. Dan holds the honorary role of Marine Vice Chair for the World Commission on Protected Areas and has contributed to marine conservation efforts for years. They earned a PhD in Marine Biology and Biological Oceanography and a BSc in Biology from the University of Exeter. Through their work, Dan provides knowledge, innovation, and leadership to enhance ocean conservation initiatives worldwide.
