Diego Jara is a legal professional with extensive experience in transboundary water governance and environmental law. Currently serving as a Legal Officer at IUCN since March 2015, Diego designs and coordinates global initiatives, while advising on the development and reform of environmental policies and laws. Prior roles include Legal Research and Technical Assistant and Legal Intern at IUCN, where Diego was involved in project implementation and report preparation on international environmental law. Earlier experience includes a position as a Legal Assistant at Sempértegui Abogados, where preparation of legal documents on constitutional, administrative, and civil law in Ecuador was undertaken. Diego holds a Master of Science in Environmental Governance from The University of Freiburg and a Bachelor of Laws from Pontificia Universidad Católica del Ecuador.
