Luis Neves

Luis Neves currently serves as the Senior Director of Animal Care at Woodland Park Zoo and is involved as a Studbook Keeper for the Southern Bald (Cape) Ibis with the Association of Zoos and Aquariums. Additionally, Neves contributes to various IUCN Specialist Groups focused on pigeons, doves, hornbills, and Asian songbirds. With extensive experience in animal care and veterinary roles, previous positions include Vice President of Animal Care at Mandai Wildlife Group and Vice President of Zoology at Wildlife Reserves Singapore, overseeing large teams and diverse species. Neves has also held educational roles and leadership positions in veterinary care, research, and conservation during tenure at institutions such as Loro Parque and Universidade Lusófona. Neves earned a DVM degree from the Technical University of Lisbon.
