Freshwater Fishes Lead: European Red List - Measuring the Pulse of European Biodiversity

Matthew Ford is a freshwater conservation specialist with over 15 years of collaborative experience in the field. Currently serving as the Freshwater Fishes Lead for the IUCN Red List, Matthew leads the assessment of freshwater fishes, guiding policy decisions and conservation actions for European biodiversity. Previously, Matthew co-managed rehabilitation programs for endemic fish taxa while working at Project Fartet and contributed to significant research projects across various institutions, including the Museum für Naturkunde Berlin and preliminary assessments of North African freshwater fishes. Matthew's commitment to biodiversity is further reflected in ongoing studies for a Master of Science in Biodiversity and a Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Science.
