Phil Bowles is an experienced Program Officer at IUCN, having worked there since February 2011, where responsibilities include managing the second IUCN Global Reptile Assessment and supporting various taxon projects, such as dung beetles and freshwater fish. Previously held the position of Coordinator for the Snake and Lizard Red List Authority, overseeing the review and quality control for around 8,000 species. Prior experience at Conservation International involved managing the Global Reptile Assessment and leading a significant workshop to assess 500 snake species in China and Southeast Asia. Phil Bowles holds a Master of Science in Advanced Methods in Taxonomy and Biodiversity from Imperial College London and a Master of Applied Science in Tropical Ecology from James Cook University.
