Simon Stuart is an accomplished conservation professional with extensive experience in species conservation and biodiversity. Currently serving as Senior Advisor to Conservation Programmes and Executive Director at A Rocha since December 2020, and holding the position of Chief Scientific Advisor and Director of Strategic Conservation at Synchronicity Earth since January 2017, Simon has demonstrated leadership in various roles. As Chair of the IUCN Species Survival Commission since 2008, Simon leads a large Commission of 10,000 members and provides strategic guidance on global species conservation. Additional experience includes positions at IUCN (ranging from Senior Species Scientist to Acting Director General) and consultancy work with Conservation International and BirdLife International. Simon holds a PhD in Conservation Biology from the University of Cambridge.
