Thomas Brooks is currently the Chief Scientist at IUCN, a position held since 2013. Alongside this role, Thomas serves as an Honorary Associate at the University of Tasmania and a Visiting Scientist at ICRAF Philippines, both since 2006. Previous positions include Chief Scientist at NatureServe from 2010 to 2012 and Vice President at Conservation International from 1999 to 2010. Thomas began his career as a Research Associate at The Nature Conservancy in 1998. Thomas obtained a PhD in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, and completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Arkansas. Thomas earned a BA in Geography from the University of Cambridge.
