Thora Amend has diverse and extensive experience in biodiversity, conservation, and sustainable development, demonstrated through various roles and contributions since 1985. As a Commission member of WCPA, CEESP, and CEC at IUCN, Thora has engaged in multiple task forces focusing on governance and protected land- and seascapes. Prior experience includes working with Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) on biodiversity and climate change projects and coordinating public outreach initiatives. Additionally, Thora has led multimedia publications on agrobiodiversity with UNDP and initiated the Go4BioDiv forum with UNESCO. Co-founding Conservation & Development and teaching at the International Academy for Nature Conservation, Thora has influenced knowledge sharing in the field. Academic qualifications include a Ph.D. in Management of Natural Resources from the University of Freiburg, alongside master's degrees in Ethnology and Geography.
