Michael R King

Michael R King is a Finance Professor at the University of Victoria's Gustavson School of Business since July 2019, specializing in fintech, climate finance, and financial markets. Concurrently, Michael serves as a Finance Professor at Ivey Business School at Western University, a position held since July 2011. Previously, Michael worked as a Senior Economist at the Bank for International Settlements from July 2008 to June 2011 and as Assistant Chief at the Bank of Canada from July 2001 to June 2008. Prior experience includes roles as a Research Analyst at RBC Capital Markets and Associate at Credit Suisse, along with an earlier position as an Analyst at Credit Suisse and an English Teacher with the Ministry of Education in Japan through the JET Program. Michael holds a PhD from The London School of Economics and Political Science, a Chartered Financial Analyst designation, and a Master's in International Relations from the same institution, along with a Bachelor of Commerce from Smith School of Business at Queen's University.
