James Dear

James Dear is the CTO and Founder of iwoca, a position they have held since 2011. Prior to this, they worked as a Vice President at Deutsche Bank from 2009 to 2011. During their time at Deutsche Bank, James made money and put out some fires. James also dived into big data.

Before working at Deutsche Bank, James was a PhD student at King's College London from 2002 to 2007. During their time at King's College London, James discovered and solved (using non-linear filtering theory) stochastic processes on Hilbert space leading to state collapse of the wave function to appropriate eigenspaces with appropriate probabilities.

James Dear has a PhD in Stochastic calculus and theoretical physics from King's College London. James also has a B.Sc. in Theoretical Physics from Imperial College London.

They are on a team with Rene Marc Trautner - Head of Capital Markets, Lara Gilman - iwocaPay. Some individuals on their team include Mark Richens - Head of Credit Risk, William Hayes - Head of Engineering, and Seema Desai - COO. Their manager is Christoph Rieche, CEO.
