Kazu S.

In 2015, Kazu S. began their work experience as a Student Intern - Network Infrastructure Engineer at Union Bank. During this role, they learned how to configure, test, and deploy Cisco devices to a network of over 1600 switches, routers, and wireless APs. They also gained knowledge about the basics of architecture for large banking systems and worked on-call with a team of senior engineers to troubleshoot issues.

In 2016, Kazu S. joined Naehas as a Software Engineer. In this position, they improved scalability and performance of many key components of the platform. They also designed, presented, and implemented new features to address tech debt and increase reliability and visibility.

In 2018, Kazu S. was promoted to the role of Senior Software Engineer at Naehas. Along with building customer-facing demos and proof-of-concepts in collaboration with Product, they also led the construction of new features from the ground up, which involved working with large datasets, high throughput, and reliability. Additionally, they mentored junior engineers and assisted in scoping out and splitting up new work.

In 2021, Kazu S. moved up to the position of Software Engineering Manager at Naehas. During this time, they managed a team of engineers, overseeing planning, mentorship, hiring, technical design, and execution. They also collaborated cross-functionally to develop new products and maintain existing features.

In 2022, Kazu S. joined Gusto as part of the Engineering team. In this role, they focused on the benefits team, where they worked on making health benefits more accessible and affordable for all employees.

In 2023, Kazu S. will transition to a role as a Software Engineering Manager at IXL Learning.

Kazu S. pursued their Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science and Engineering at UC Irvine from 2011 to 2016.
