Michael Schuster

Michael Schuster began their work experience as a Software Developer Intern at IBM in 2009. During their internship, they developed new functionality for the Rational Asset Manager web client, tested and integrated new technologies, and created and maintained automatic functional testing modules. In 2011, they joined the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill as a Teaching Fellow. In this role, they taught various math courses at the undergraduate level and assisted in grading for additional courses. Michael worked at UNC Chapel Hill until 2016. Following this, Michael Schuster joined the University of Georgia's Franklin College of Arts and Sciences as a Limited-Term Assistant Professor. Here, they conducted research in pure mathematics, wrote and published papers, gave talks on their research, and taught pre-calculus and calculus to undergraduates. Michael worked at the University of Georgia until 2017. Currently, they are a Software Engineer at IXL Learning. As a technical lead, they have led projects to localize existing math content, develop new math question generators, and create a new React question component for math questions.

Michael Schuster earned a Bachelor's Degree in Mathematics and Computer Science from North Carolina State University in 2011. Michael then pursued further education and completed their Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Mathematics from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2016.
