Phyllis Carrillo has a diverse and extensive work experience.
Starting from 2008, they began their career as a Corps Member at Teach For America. Phyllis then took on the role of a Teacher at Baltimore City Public Schools and later joined Teach For America again as a Content Learning Team Leader.
In 2010, Phyllis joined Johns Hopkins Center For Talented Youth (CTY) as a Center for Talented Youth Site Coordinator. Simultaneously, they also worked as a Teacher at KIPP Baltimore Schools.
Moving forward, Phyllis worked at KIPP SoCal Public Schools from 2012 to 2020. Phyllis started as a Teacher and then became a Dean. Subsequently, they took on the positions of an Assistant School Leader and eventually became a School Leader.
Currently, Phyllis is employed at IXL Learning since 2020. Phyllis first worked as a Professional Learning Specialist and then progressed to become a Lead Professional Learning Specialist. After that, they took on the role of a Strategic Partnership Lead. Recently, they have been serving as a Professional Learning Manager.

Phyllis Carrillo obtained their Bachelor of Arts degree in Liberal Studies from San Diego State University, where they studied from 2004 to 2008. Following their undergraduate studies, they pursued a Master of Arts degree in Education at the Johns Hopkins University School of Education from 2008 to 2010.
