Jim Towne has had a long and varied career in software development. Jim began their career in 1990 as a Police Officer at the Metropolitan Police Department of the District of Columbia. In 1998, they moved to Business Improvements, Inc as a Programmer/Analyst, where they were responsible for all technical aspects of building web sites for external clients. In 2000, they worked as a Software Engineer at Thompson Prometric, building a massive VB n-tier application with MS-SQL 2000 database using COM+/COM/DCOM. That same year, they also worked as a Programmer/Analyst at the Alliance of Computer Professionals, writing applications for a small insurance company using MS Access, VB 6 with SQL Server. In 2002, Jim took a position at Surety Systems as a Database Specialist, working on a B2B web site for a manufacturing company. That same year, they also began working at National Diagnostics, Inc as a Net Developer/Team Lead, with responsibilities ranging from guiding a team of .Net developers to requirements gathering and business analysis. In 2007, Jim moved to Standpoint Technologies as a Software Developer, driving new development on a dashboard web site using ASP, the prototype JavaScript framework with AJAX and Flash using a MySQL database. In 2009, they began working at Hospira as a Software Developer, where they were the sole developer on an ASP.net/VB.net 3. Finally, in 2011, Jim moved to Jackrabbit Online Class Management Software as a Senior Software Developer.
Jim Towne obtained an Associates degree in Computer Programming from Academy College. Jim also holds a Microsoft Certified Professional certification.
