Jacob The Angel is an English coffee house and bakery created by the team at Studio Paskin. Named after Jacob, the man who opened the first coffee house in England at The Angel Inn, Oxford, England, 1651. 

A specialist coffee house, equal parts eatery, bakery and take out too. Originally set within the pretty courtyard of Neal's Yard in Covent Garden, Jacob The Angel is currently on the move to a new location to be revealed in due course.

A little bit of history to our namesake Jacob...

Coffee originated in Ethiopia and was first exported to Yemen. The Trade grew from the Arabs to the Levantine Jews.

The world’s first coffee shop, Kiva Han, opened in Constantinople in 1475, and then in Venice in 1629.

In 1651, a man named Jacob, said to have been a Jewish immigrant from Lebanon, opened the first coffee house in England, in Oxford at The Angel Inn (where The Grand Café is now). Levantine Jews had only recently bought coffee from Turkey via Venice.
