John Sharples

John Sharples is a Technical Manager and Chief Technologist (Structural Integrity) at Jacobs and a Technical Manager and Chief Technologist at Amentum. They hold an Honours degree in Mechanical Engineering and are a Chartered Engineer and Fellow of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers. With over 40 years of experience in structural integrity, John has specialized in fracture mechanics and significantly contributed to the R6 Defect Assessment procedures alongside UK nuclear operating companies. They also participate in the British Standards Committee responsible for the BS7910 code and chair the sub-committee on Residual Stresses while engaging in various European projects and networks.
