From the Beginning
JamGOra is an efficient, secure, customer-centric eCommerce Marketplace founded in November 2013 by CEO, Maurice P.G. Sawyers. He coined the term from the words Jamaica and the Greek term, Agora, which when concatenated is defined to mean Jamaican Marketplace.

Sawyers, a merchant and consumer himself, found that small merchants had a challenge promoting their products at an affordable cost so they struggled to reach the public. Meanwhile, consumers were unaware of all the products available in the local market so they looked overseas for variety.

With this in mind, Sawyers developed JamGOra to bring local merchants and consumers together on a single, secured, convenient customer-centric platform.

Our Aim
We endeavour to make a significant contribution to the Jamaican economy through the use of technology. JamGOra welcomes all registered businesses, from every industry, to host and sell their products on our website. Individual entrepreneurs are also encouraged to register their business and begin selling on JamGOra.

We have one aim in mind, create an online Marketplace that will be utilized by every merchant in Jamaica; to encourage more consumers to start purchasing locally; create a convenient online connection for international consumers to Jamaican producers, essentially contributing to the building of Jamaica’s economy.
