Ryan Abbott

Ryan Abbott, MD, JD, MTOM, PhD is a Professor of Law and Health Sciences at the University of Surrey and an Adjunct Assistant Professor of Medicine at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA. They have published extensively on law and technology, health law, and intellectual property, including the book “The Reasonable Robot: Artificial Intelligence and the Law.” Abbott has been recognized as one of the fifty most influential people in intellectual property by Managing Intellectual Property magazine in 2019 and serves as a mediator and arbitrator with JAMS. They hold multiple professional designations, including licensed physician and patent attorney, and have served in various roles in academia, legal practice, and consulting internationally.
