Jan Shaurya is a community-led non-profit organization established in February 2023, working with the Banchhada community - a denotified Tribe, across the Neemuch and Mandsaur districts of Madhya Pradesh.

Born out of the community itself, Jan Shaurya was established under the leadership of a member of the Banchhada community, with the support of community members committed to ending the intergenerational practice of forcing underage girls into caste-based sex work and creating pathways to education, dignified livelihoods, and opportunity.

Our work focuses on:

Education: Village-based learning centres that nurture foundational learning, life skills, confidence, and self-expression among children and adolescents
Women's Empowerment: Strengthening self-help groups, supporting their formalization under the National Rural Livelihood Mission, and facilitating access to government schemes, livelihood programmes, and enterprise development opportunities.
Youth Development: Promoting sports and leadership while connecting young people with government schemes, scholarships, and skilling opportunities.

We envision a future where no child's life is determined by birth, where hereditary occupations can be questioned, and where every child has the right to make their own choices with dignity and agency.
