Matthew Downs

Principal, Registered Architect at Jasmax

Matthew joined Jasmax in 2011 and has been active in the Residential sector. As the Project Architect for the 5 Whitaker Place Student Accommodation project (16 storeys in Auckland CBD) and Sale Street (17 luxury apartments in Auckland CBD), he was responsible for design documentation and delivery. Matthew is also running the design process for the King Edward Parade, which is a development of new high-end townhouses in Devonport.

Matthew has 15 years' of architectural experience in education, mixed-use, hotel and leisure developments. He has worked across the UK, Europe and New Zealand. Matthew established his career in the design stages of commercial, residential and mixed-use buildings before gaining additional experience in hospitality.

Supplementing this are his skills with design coordination and management. He has a track record for pulling together geographically diverse teams and achieving client requirements. In addition, Matthew brings skills in quality assurance and information security for sensitive projects.

During his time in London, Matthew was the Local Designer and Design Team Coordinator for Buildings A, B and C of the Paddington Basin in London. Each building was valued circa £80m and formed part of the Merchant Square masterplan.
