Roberta Johnson

Associate Principal, Head of Communications at Jasmax

With over 20 years of design, architectural research and briefing expertise, Roberta is Head of Communications at Jasmax. She combines an ability to listen, synthesise and communicate design ideas, and has a keen interest in developing strategic goals alongside clients.

Roberta’s unique set of personal attributes and experience includes stakeholder engagement and facilitation, client and public relations management, and architectural vision setting. She also has a wide range of experience in design of spaces including laboratories, workshops, and innovative environments supporting new ways of delivering education and research. These skills have seen her hold key roles on award-winning education projects, including the recent Ngā Wai Hono Building for AUT. Roberta’s clients have also included Scion, Auckland War Memorial Museum, University of Waikato and University of Auckland.

Over the last two years, Roberta has also worked closely with the Jasmax Marketing and Business Development team, where she made a significant contribution to developing the bicultural strategy and brand identity. In particular, Roberta was instrumental in the development of the Jasmax Manifesto, a foundational document guiding the Jasmax vision for the future.

Roberta joined Jasmax in 2014, with previous experience in residential and commercial architectural practice including a four year sojourn in London, working for TP Bennett Architects.

Prior to joining Jasmax, Roberta ran her own design consultancy business, providing residential and design communication services. During this period, Roberta was also employed as a professional teaching fellow at the School of Architecture in the National Institute of Creative Arts and Industries (NICAI) at the University of Auckland.
