Richard Liu (Qiangdong Liu) transitioned out of the chief executive officer role in April 2022, after holding that role since 2004. He established JD.com as an e-commerce business dedicated to providing consumers with the best possible shopping experience, online or off. From day 1 his vision was to provide authentic products to customers at amazing speeds.

Today the company is known for its strict zero tolerance policy toward counterfeits and same- and next-day delivery that covers an area with a population of more than 1 billion people.

Under Mr. Liu’s leadership, JD.com listed on NASDAQ in June of 2014 and in 2016 it became the first Chinese Internet company to make the Fortune 500 List. He has also been named to Fortune’s list of the “World’s Greatest Leaders.”

He holds a bachelor’s degree in sociology from Renmin University in Beijing.
