Kurt Michael, Ph.D., currently serves as an Adjunct Professor at the Huntsman Mental Health Institute at the University of Utah and as the Senior Clinical Director at The Jed Foundation. With extensive experience in the field of psychology, Kurt Michael has held a consultant role at CAMS-care since January 2020 and maintains a licensed psychologist position in private practice since November 1999. Additionally, Kurt Michael is a Stanley R. Aeschleman Distinguished Professor of Psychology (Emeritus) at Appalachian State University, focusing on school mental health and psychotherapy outcomes while supervising training psychologists. Previous experience includes a medical psychology internship at the Duke University Health System. How We Do It: Our evidence-based, comprehensive public health approach equips teens and young adults with the skills and knowledge to help themselves and each other, strengthens schools’ mental health and suicide prevention policies, programs and systems, and mobilizes community awareness, understanding, and action. Vision: JED is building a future where every high school, college, and community has a comprehensive, fair, and just system that protects emotional health and prevents suicide among teens and young adults.
