Gavin J

Gavin J is a seasoned Senior Optical Engineer with extensive experience in network architecture and capacity planning, currently working at Jisc since December 2022. Prior to this, Gavin held the position of Remote Support Optical Transmission at PHOEBE, supporting various Ciena clients, including Telefonica O2. Previous roles include Backbone Network Consultant at Ericsson, responsible for the planning and operation of mobile backhaul networks, and Senior Project Engineer at Magdalene, working on upgrades and operations for several telecom customers across Europe. Gavin has also served as Senior Transmission Engineer at TeliaSonera International Carrier, overseeing the rollout of DWDM networks, and in various technical roles across notable companies including Alcatel-Lucent and Nortel Networks. Gavin earned an HND in Telecommunications from the Royal School of Signals and attended Wellington College Belfast.
