JKLM Architects is a Cleveland-based firm focused on planning, site design, commercial, residential, and adaptive re-use work.

Our firm was formed from a common passion: solving problems for clients and the people that use the spaces that result. While we get excited to see a site transformation, renovation, or new building take shape, our biggest satisfactions always come from finding solutions to the challenges our clients face. When a project can put that solution into a physical form, that’s when we know we’ve done our job well.

Between us we bring a collective one hundred years of experience, and a deep awareness that great design requires addressing a broad range of criteria. Configuration and shape are not the starting points; instead we seek to understand factors such as project context, client funding, regulatory requirements from zoning to building codes to accessibility, durability and maintenance impacts, energy use and sustainability, and a host of other often unseen factors. When solutions to each of those challenges are integrated into a common design a project can truly succeed.

Our planning and site design capabilities create a strong foundation for assessing project feasibility and potential yield to help clients optimize site potential and align project scopes with funding and approval strategies.

Our commercial design experience includes retail, full-service and quick-service restaurants, and family entertainment environments. Residential capabilities can address a broad range of projects, affordable and market-rate, rehabs and new, with types from townhomes and walk-ups to large-scale mixed-use buildings, and includes an understanding of the funding strategies and requirements often necessary to bring projects to fruition.
