Established in 1980, the practice is now recognised nationally and internationally for designs that possess a distinctly joyful quality that is derived from celebrating local character. 

In the UK, the company pioneered the practice of creating new, mixed-use and walkable communities. It is presently involved in the creation of many of the new settlements which will satisfy the current housing need in a truly sustainable manner.

Design awards have been received from the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA), the American Institute of Architects (AIA), the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (RICS), The Royal Fine Arts Commission Trust (RFACT) and the Institute of Classical Architecture and Classical America (ICA).
