Katrin Elbert, Ph.D., is an accomplished engineer with extensive experience in medical device development. Currently serving as Associate Director and Senior Principal Engineer at Johnson & Johnson - Ethicon since May 2002, Katrin leads the definition, development, launch, and support of various medical device products, employing project management and Six Sigma methods. Prior experience includes roles as Principal Research Engineer at Stryker and Engineer at Pfizer - Howmedica, where Katrin focused on evaluating mechanical performance and design of orthopedic devices. Katrin holds a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering with a specialization in orthopedic biomechanics from Cornell University, a Graduate Certificate in Engineering Management from Stevens Institute of Technology, and a B.S. magna cum laude in Engineering Science and Mechanics from Virginia Tech.
