Michael McFarlane

Michael McFarlane is a Senior Principal Researcher at Johnson Matthey, where they lead catalyst testing for steam reforming chemistry. Previously, they served as a Lead Researcher and Principal Researcher at Johnson Matthey, focusing on catalyst development for nitric acid production and ammonia synthesis processes. Michael completed a Ph.D. in Chemistry and an MSci in Pure and Applied Chemistry at the University of Strathclyde, where they also worked as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow, developing novel optical indicators for various applications. Their research interests span from colorimetric breathalyzers to environmentally friendly catalysts and self-cleaning materials.
