Stephen James is an experienced professional in environmental health and safety management with a strong background in the precious metals and chemicals industries. Currently serving as President of the European Precious Metals Federation since June 2024 and as EHS Director for PGM Services at Johnson Matthey since April 2020, Stephen has held a variety of leadership roles, including Interim EHS Director in the health sector and Sector EHS Manager for battery materials. Prior positions include Project Director at Chenega International Consulting and Managing Director at Witt O'Brien's Ltd. With a foundational career at Scott Bader and Ineos Chlor, where roles ranged from Group HSEQ Manager to Operating Plant Manager, Stephen's early education includes a BEng in Chemical Engineering from UCL and attendance at Christ's Hospital.
