Andrew Tan is the founder and CEO of Nova, a data science company. Prior to starting Nova, they worked as a data science fellow at Sequoia Capital, a venture capital firm focusing on artificial intelligence and frontier technology. Andrew also worked as a technical product manager at Google AI, where they focused on research and machine intelligence.
Tan started their career as a graduate teaching assistant at Stanford University, where they taught courses on artificial intelligence and natural language processing. Andrew then went on to work as a portfolio manager and quantitative researcher at AQR Capital Management, before joining the Berkeley RISE Lab as an AI and systems researcher.
At UC Berkeley, Tan served as a head teaching assistant for the College of Engineering. In this role, they were responsible for leading a team of teaching assistants and helping students with their coursework.
Tan’s experience in data science, artificial intelligence, and teaching makes him uniquely qualified to lead Nova. Under their guidance, the company has become a leading provider of data science services and solutions.
Andrew Tan received their Master of Science in Computer Science from Stanford University. Andrew also holds a Bachelor of Arts in Computer Science (Honors) and Statistics from the University of California, Berkeley. Andrew is a Salutatorian (GPA: 4.65/4.0) from Irvington High School. Andrew has also received a certification from UC Berkeley College of Engineering in Certificate in Entrepreneurship & Technology.
