Michael Smith is the Co-Founder and President of JourneyGuide. Prior to that, they were the Vice President of Internal Business Development Opportunities at Ash Brokerage from October 2014 to June 2017. Before joining Ash Brokerage, Michael worked at Goldman Sachs from January 1998 to December 2014, where they were Vice President - Senior Manager. In this role, they managed the global teams handling the firm’s $250B Alternative Investment and Mutual Fund investor trading platform. Michael also provided professional career guidance, technology direction, and project governance.

At Ash Brokerage, Michael’s principle responsibilities consisted of identifying key strategic projects that created competitive advantages for Ash Brokerage in the marketplace and collaborating with other business and operational leaders to develop and implement strategic direction. Some of their notable achievements include directing the design and rollout of an industry leading hedge fund platform which provided annual savings over $1MM in operational and support cost reduction, automating the delivery of Private Placement Memorandum documents reducing legal risk by ensuring an auditable client distribution, and leading the analysis, implementation, and launch of the centralized IMD Product Repository which unified business workflows and established clear ownership of product data across the division.

Michael has a proven track record in delivering results and driving change within organizations. Michael is a strategic thinker with the ability to see the big picture and identify opportunities for improvement. Their experience in working with senior leaders on strategic initiatives makes him an invaluable asset to any organization.

Michael Smith holds a Master of Arts in Mathematics from the University of Kentucky and a Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics from Houghton University.
